The steel wire rope twisting equipment, also known as the strand twisting rope unit, is an important rope forming process in the metal product industry. It combines multiple steel wires or aluminum wires in sequence to form a rope according to the twist distance and rope diameter requirements of different processes, and is widely used in industrial and agricultural fields such as oil drilling, power transmission, ship lifting and unloading, and elevator lifting.
The manufacturer of steel wire rope twisting equipment believes that traditional twisting machines are composed of a wire laying part, a cylinder body part, a rocking frame wire laying device part inside the cylinder body, a cylinder safety cover, a traction part, a twisting part, a gearbox, a ground shaft transmission shaft, a winding part, and an electrical control part. The cylinder is driven by a belt connected to the main motor. The traditional way to achieve different lay lengths can only be achieved by gradually changing the speed ratio of the gearbox. At the same time, the daily maintenance of the gearbox is relatively large, and a single equipment can only produce several specifications of fixed rope products.
The production process of steel wire rope generally involves several major processes such as drawing, twisting, twisting, and winding, as follows:
Wire drawing: The manufacturer of wire rope twisting equipment believes that wire drawing in wire rope production refers to the process of acid washing, phosphating, shelling, and cutting of wire rods. During this process, one or more drawing processes are carried out to change the internal molecular structure of the raw material and achieve the desired target diameter. During the wire drawing process, the main equipment is a water tank wire drawing machine or a straight in wire drawing machine. The raw materials are generally black metal with a diameter of 0.14-10mm and non-ferrous metal with a diameter of 0.01-16.0mm.
Direct wire drawing machine pickling is the process of using an acid solution to remove rust and mill scale on the surface of steel wire rope raw materials, also known as peeling. It mainly removes surface oxides to prevent rust or other impurities from affecting the quality of steel billets and damaging the drawing tools.
The manufacturer of steel wire rope twisting equipment believes that phosphating is the process in which materials invade the phosphating solution and react to form an insoluble phosphating solution film on the surface of the material, which has a certain anti-corrosion effect.
Cutting is the process of forcing metal through the forming holes of a grinding tool, which can cause changes in size and shape. The die holes used for drawing metal wires are circular, square, octagonal, or other special shapes.
The manufacturer of wire rope twisting equipment believes that cold drawing is forcibly pulling ordinary round steel through a hole smaller than its diameter, which will reduce the diameter of the round steel. According to the ratio of equal volume change, the length will also be longer. Repeatedly repeating this process will further reduce the diameter of the round steel. But after this plastic deformation, the hardness of the steel will increase, and its plasticity will basically disappear. Therefore, this type of steel can be used in situations that only require strength but not plasticity.
The manufacturer of wire rope twisting equipment believes that tempering refers to the reduction of the internal molecular structure of the steel wire only through tempering, as the internal molecular structure of the steel wire has been damaged, making it easier to pull again, making it less prone to breakage, and achieving the required strength. Simply put, strength is what we commonly refer to as tensile strength. Strength is produced by wire drawing, not heat treatment, which is the main difference between wire rope manufacturing process and mechanical processing process.
